Why Doesn't Windows Live Writer Support Silverlight?

By Don Burnett

(Warning Opinion Piece, from the Bully Pulpit..)

How many of you out there blog, and publish to the Web using Windows Live Writer? I think it's really lame that they don't include Silverlight Streaming as a standard feature on Windows Live Writer.. It' time to go out and show some community support of Silverlight and ask that this feature be included as a standard option. It's honestly embarrassing to me that Soapbox video (based on Flash Video) can get inserted so easily in there, but yet Silverlight is getting no love from this particular team at Microsoft. If you look at past history, when Flash came around Macromedia totally embraced it everywhere, but Microsoft still has some hold-outs there.

So I am asking all of you all to *please* go to the Windows Live Writer Forums and help me to start a write-in campaign asking this feature getting added. Yes the do have a plug-in but why this isn't built-in is BEYOND ME.. There are many individual organizations in Microsoft that just have responsibility on their own products and they only add features based on community demand. So I am going to the community and asking. Please ask for this, maybe the demand will be enough to get it to come as standard equipment. I think it's a shame some parts of the company don't seem to support the rest of the company's initiatives, especially something as big as Silverlight. Let's show them some demand.
